a little late

Ok,   A few  years ago  I was encouraged by some well intended friends to start a blog.  I have always been interested in writing, but the days turned into weeks and months - yadda, yadda, yadda.  Then last year I decided that I was going to begin with the New Year.  You know, fresh start.  Fabulous kick-off date -- all of that.  Well here we are in February...what can I say? I am a serial procrastinator. You got me.

I have put off too many things in my life including this - this opportunity to clear my  head, to vent, to share with the universe, to organize my thoughts, really whatever it will be on any given day..  I hope that this will be cathartic, and healing, and funny and revealing, but above all I hope I can be real and truthful with you and myself.

My fellow procrastinators its ok to  put some things off for a while if you have to, but then, BEGIN!  Whatever it is  that has been on your heart to do (and don't act like there isn't anything there  because you were not  created to just  suck up oxygen from the rest of us) is there for a reason.  You feel it, I know you do.   It's been there for a long time and, like me, you have excused it away. Don't psyche yourself out because it seems too big or you don't have time because we do what is important to us.    I heard someone say once How do you eat an elephant?  Answer: One bite at a time.   Fact is, it's not pretty, but it can be done.   A baby step is still a step.

There will always be a reason NOT to do something and waiting a while can be a good thing because it gives us  time to circle the wagons, plan and prepare but let's be honest, more often than not  we are holding out for a sign.   What we really want is a  task specific kick in the pants  or a heavenly post-it note to fall out of the sky before we  get something started. Too often we give away our power to change or have a new beginning in favor of the "safe" or the familiar.  Don't. If you already have,  take it back.  You know where it is, you remember who's got it -- go get it.  It's yours.   Here's the thing:  you have the swing vote in your life.   For once, cast a vote for YOU.

P.S.  I was so pleased with myself.  I thought I was writing this on Feb 1st.  I just looked at my calendar; it's the 2nd.  ;)  Oh, well, a late start is better than no start at all,  right?

P.S.S.  No elephants were harmed in the typing of this post.
